Inthanon Royal Project Research Station, Chom Thong District
Launched in February 1979, Inthanon Research Station was established by His Majesty King Bhumibol Aduyadej to improve the quality of life or the hill-tribes. The station supports the hill-tribes to grow alternative crops as a substitute for opium, to settle on agricultural land and develop sustainable cultivation methods instead of the destructive slash-and-burn farming, to promote reforestation, and to enable them to increase their earning.
His majesty's wisdom has allowed the land to retain its vitality, and human communities and forests co-exist harmoniously. Inthanon Royal Project Research Station investigates crop and plant development. The station is at 1,380 meters above sea level and experience cool weather. The best time for traveling and relaxing is in winter from October to November.
