Erawan Elephant Museum
The base of the largest copper elephant sculpture in the world houses a captivating museum full of religious artifacts. Underneath the 44 m. tall 3-headed statue, you will visit 3 stories each representing a different world.
The lowest floor is the underwater world. This floor contains various antiques including Sangkaloke porcelain, Buddha images, and exhibitions describing the history of the Erawan Elephant Museum and its founders, Mr. Lek and Mrs. Pakpian Wiriyaphan. The second layer is the human realm with eight gates, each of which is decorated with a relief of angels, and it houses an incredible selection of art.The upper story is second heaven which is symbolized by a whole elephant body. The ceiling is beautifully decorated with a painting of the cosmos and a superb sculpture made by craftsmen from Petchaburi province.
There is also a 1,300-year-old Kwan Yin Buddha Statute and the ceiling is decorated with colored glass depicting the world and the heavens.
